adopt a beach  in memory of Barbara Fegan

WHAT DO I DO? Choose a beach and pledge to help keep it clean.
HOW OFTEN? Weekly...Monthly....As often as you choose.
WHAT IF I”M NOT A BEACH-GOER? Pick a favorite road or pond.
DO I HAVE TO SIGN UP? No. Just do it. Bring a trash bag or two and a pair of gloves, and take a walk, picking up trash as you go, and recycling what you can. Find something interesting? Let us know. If it’s dangerous or toxic, don’t handle it without expert help: alert the National Seashore or local health department.
WHY? to actively care for a place you love, make friends along the way, and last but not least, to honor the memory of Barbara Fegan environmental acitivist and former Wellfleet Selectwoman who founded the national project CoastWeeks in 1982. One of her favorite sayings was, “Democracy is not a spectator sport.” Let’s pick up where Barbara led us...

Barbara received many awards for civic and environmental leadership, including this one from  Robert Redford.
